A Return to Flowing, Feeling, Creating
|
Hello Reader! Have you ever been excited to finally have time for something creative — and then nothing comes? You try to push through it. Think harder. Stay focused. And still nothing. Creativity isn’t just a mental process. It’s a whole body experience.
The Body Frees ImaginationWhen stress builds, the brain shifts into a more protective mode. This limits imagination. Many experiences are processed through the limbic system before they become words. That’s why emotions don’t just live in the mind — they show up in the body as changes in breath, tension, and energy. Somatic practices like yoga and meditation help regulate the nervous system, allowing those patterns to shift. Humming Bees 🐝I discovered that a few moments of simple movement — like shaking out my legs or humming — can really clear my head. Try it. Start humming. For real. For extra effect, rest your fingers on top of your head and use your thumbs to gently close the flap of your ears. In yoga, this is called Bhramari (Bee Breath). The vibration stimulates the vagus nerve, helping the body shift out of a more activated state. When the body settles, attention opens. And often, ideas start to move again. Whimsical & Wild 💃🏻This is the space I’ve been exploring more deeply for a while now. I’ll be sharing these methods in the Whimsical & Wild workshops. Movement, breath, rhythm, music, sketching, reflecting, and connecting help release tension in the body and free up mental space. From there, expression follows.
If this resonates, I’d love to hear from you. What’s been feeling stuck or hard to access lately? Or even just — what are you wanting to create right now? You can reply directly to this email. I read every message. Warmly, 💖 Curious about the science behind this? |
