What Parts of Yourself Do You Miss?
|
Hi Over the past couple of years, I’ve reconnected with creative aspects of myself. I always say that music was my first love. But for some reason, I stopped playing for many, many years. I have a theory. Through years of stress, adaptation, over-functioning, self-monitoring, pressure, and simply trying to keep life moving, I lost connection with myself. Humans have a remarkable ability to adapt to: Over time, many of those adaptations become so familiar that we stop noticing them. Until they overtake everything. That’s what happened to me, at least: massive burnout. Music, writing, modern somatics, and yoga were instrumental in my recovery. Letting go of deep tension, giving myself permission to rest, sleeping well, and, developing a little more perspective around what truly mattered, helped me reconnect with myself again. What emerged was a return to: When the body is constantly managing, bracing, or anticipating, there’s often less room for experimentation, play, intuition, or creative flow. That’s a big part of the inspiration behind the Whimsical & Wild workshops. Wondering What This Workshop Is Actually Like?I recorded a short video sharing:
This workshop series is an evolution of an earlier idea, but one that now comes from a more grounded, authentic, and embodied place. Together, we’ll explore shifting attention away from constant thinking and toward: And notice what unfolds. The emphasis in this workshop is curiosity and intuition, not analysis or self-improvement. Whimsical & Wild — Where I Hold, Where I Flow explores the relationship between awareness and expression through movement, creativity, nervous system awareness, mindfulness, music, and embodied exploration. “Wild woman are an unexplainable spark of life. They ooze freedom and seek awareness, they belong to nobody but themselves yet give a piece of who they are to everyone they meet. If you have met one, hold on to her, she'll allow you into her chaos but she'll also show you her magic.”

Whimsical & Wild — Reclaiming Your Wild HeartSaturday, June 20 If you’d like to continue the exploration, the following week I’ll be offering another workshop in the series. This second workshop moves more deeply into expression, self-trust, intuitive movement, and loosening the habit of constantly self-editing.
You’re welcome to attend one or both. Each workshop is intentionally designed as a complete experience. 🎥 A little camera shy? Feel free to step out of view while you move. This is all about you feeling free and flowing. As always, respond to this email with any questions or curiosities. I read and respond to each and every one. Warmly, 💖 P.S. If someone comes to mind who might benefit from this kind of work, feel free to share it with them, or send them to softsmilesomatics.com to explore. |
