What Stories Does Your Body Hold?
|
Hi Last week I completed a certification in Yoga Therapy for Ancestral & Collective Trauma through Stanford Psychiatry. It was one of the most meaningful trainings I’ve done. One of the themes we explored throughout the training was how human beings adapt to survive. Sometimes that adaptation looks obvious. Sometimes it looks incredibly subtle. When things don’t feel fully secure — emotionally, relationally, culturally, physically, or socially — human beings adapt. We learn how to move through the world in ways that help us function, belong, stay safe, stay connected, or avoid disruption. Sometimes those adaptations are incredibly supportive. And eventually, many of us begin to notice the effort of constantly monitoring ourselves, managing ourselves, or editing our natural responses, whether at work, at home, in relationships, or in spaces where we don’t fully feel free to be ourselves. And that’s part of what I explore in my upcoming online workshop: Whimsical & Wild — Where I Hold, Where I FlowThis workshop explores the relationship between awareness and expression through movement, nervous system awareness, creativity, yoga philosophy, and embodied exploration. One of the concepts woven throughout the workshop is Līlā, often translated as “divine play.” In yogic philosophy, Lila is the concept that reality doesn’t exist out of necessity or struggle, but as a spontaneous, joyful, and creative expression. Together, we’ll explore: This is not about becoming someone different. It’s about noticing the patterns you’ve learned, relating to them with more awareness, and creating a little more room for spontaneity, creativity, and expression. And if you’d like to continue the exploration, the following week I’ll be offering another workshop in the series. Whimsical & Wild — Reclaiming Your Wild Heart This second workshop moves more deeply into expression, self-trust, intuitive movement, and loosening the habit of constantly self-editing.
